UVA OPSC is a great place to work, especially, if you're a new grad who's a little anxious about all the bigger cases the main OR does in a Trauma center like UVA. The management is the best of any place I've ever worked. We "mostly" have the equipment / supplies / instruments to do what we need (If you're an experienced tech odds are you've dealt with issues around this topic and have given it the lowest possible number on yearly surveys in hopes of getting what you need to do your job). I feel the pay scale is fairly competitive (Great for new grads actually), you'll make more in general in the main (Pay scale is a bit higher, but they deserve it for all the big cases they do daily). The OR Staff is close knit / family, very eager to help when it's needed, we work great together as team players, and there is not an excessive amount of gossip or politics going on. And some of my favorite parts are no weekends, no holidays, no "real" call (Just stay to finish cases sort of thing), we always get our breaks / lunches (First place I've worked in 21 years that we get breaks as Techs). The Charlottesville area is also a great place to live. Hope this helps someone considering UVA OPSC.
